The Project

In January of 2012 a non profit organization and an executive board that includes professionals, parents,

and teens from our community was formed.

Located at James Day Park (formally Nike park) in Parma, Ohio. The project will be constructed in three stages with total estimated costs at $309,000.  phase one is complete.  We will continue to raise funds for additional equipment and a rubber surface. Stay tune for further information reguarding phase 2 and 3 ceremony.

In 2014 $50,000 in equipment was purchased through the generous support of the area businesses and the community. We have secured an additional $49,000 to buy equipment and are near ground breaking. We recently installed almost $100,000 in equipment.  Thank you for the support we received from area businesses, the City of Parma and the community.

The playground design will include:

  • Wide grips on handles and rails with rounded edges on corners to accommodate the various degrees of motor skills
  • Some swings have  straps
  • A glider large enough to include a wheelchair
  • Ramps for easy mobility for children and their parents in wheelchairs
  • A special soft surface that will protect them from falls and provide easy movement

All children deserve to have playtime and space, however, children with disabilities are not always

able to enjoy playgrounds especially when they are cumbersome, not fully accessible, or too far from home.

This will be a place where all children and their families will feel safe, engaged, and accepted.
